Provisional Psychologist Placements

PsychMed is a major training provider for postgraduate psychology students in cognitive behavioural and other evidence-based therapies. In 2015 and 2016, PsychMed provided 31 placements for provisional psychology students from 4 universities: Adelaide, Flinders, UniSA and UNE. In 2017, PsychMed is offering 18 placements per semester to gain experience in a range of areas including addiction, trauma, general adult mental health, suicide prevention and child disability. Provisional psychology placements from Adelaide, Flinders and UniSA are allocated through The University Placement Allocation Committee (UPAC) or through your university course placement coordinator. Interstate students are welcome to apply.

Registrar Program

Psychmed also offers structured and supported placements for registrars, which include weekly attendance at peer support and review clinical team meetings, weekly training in evidence-based clinical skills, and involvement in monthly clinical training workshops throughout the year. PsychMed provides 6 to 10 registrar placements per annum, which are advertised annually throughout the national university network. Psychologists are required to attend an interview and complete clinical case scenarios. Completing postgraduates are encouraged to apply. Successful registrars will have access to experienced supervisors and a diverse range of professional development opportunities in a supportive and busy clinical environment.
